quick and dirty valentines

Just wanted to share a little peek of the valentines I made for some friends this year. I can never pull my act together for Christmas cards, but valentines usually seem do-able. This perfect excuse to craft always comes during the bleakest days of a New England winter.

 
As you can see, they aren't too elaborate this year, and they even came out a little messy.  I hope the recipients don't open them and think "WTF?!"

Mostly I just used black paper and this stamp set from the Martha Stewart craft collection at Michaels. The old fashioned ladies were on a separate wooden stamp - I'm sorry I couldn't find it on the website.

 

I love lamp

Last night, I went over my friend's house. We were going to attempt to make our own cheaper versions of this beautiful wool wrap, but I had a glass of wine upon arrival and was then too tired to sew. Also, the dog chewed a hole through my fabric.

 

I love this beautiful light by Lindsey Adelman, spotted over at D E S I G N L O V E F E S T.  Seagreen and gold is my ultimate color combo.

Just discovered, via Unruly Things, the AMAZINGNESS that is Jessica Polka.  Her crocheted interpretations of sea life and scientific drawings are incredibly creative and unique.

However, my favorite piece has got to be this embroidered cyanotype, inspired by the work of Anna Atkins

 

 

I do not know how to crochet or embroider, but these beauties are enough to get me to learn!
