Whether or not you enjoyed True Grit, I suggest you saunter on over to Jeff's Bridges personal photos of the filming - they are pretty awesome.

I practically gasped when I saw these photos by Brandon Kidd. They were taken at the recent Hitched! event in Palm Springs. These Aqualillies are a troupe of synchronised swimmers, you can hire them for special events.

I love the colors in the photos, and they definitely appeal to my lifelong obsession with mermaids. The Aqualillies remind me of the Weeki Wachee Mermaids in Crystal Springs, Florida. This old-school-tourist-attraction-turned-state park has been on my "bucket list" for quite awhile.

A former Navy Seal built the underwater ampitheter in 1946. It was designed to look into the crystal clear water of Weeki Wachee spring as "mermaids" perform synchronized ballet routines and breathe from underwater hookahs. The park also has a beach, a small waterpark, and a "commonly misunderstood animal" show.
I think it would be a fun family vacation - maybe I could even steal away for two days of Mermaid Camp!
Happy Friday!
I've been feeling a bit stir crazy these last few weeks, but the last few days have really made me feel like I need to GET OUT OF HERE!
We've gotten more snow and while I still think it's gorgeous and am so tempted to go out and play in it, I've been sick at home these last two days. When you combine this with a husband who's getting sick and a dog who's required additonal trips to the vet (and maybe more) . . . I feel that I'm almost at my wits end.
Jeff's working all day Saturday and since I had to decline a ski trip with friends, I really, really need to do something at least a little fun and adventurous. We'll see what I can come up with. . .

Have you ever come across the Urban Weeds blog? It's like the Satorialist, but just for Portland, Oregon and with mini-interviews. Sometimes people give really funny answers about their personal style influences, and I can never tell if they are serious or not . . .
June likes to dress "literary" (very pretty!)
Johnny likes to dress like an "earthy-mystic hiding behind militant-industrial styles"
I really love combining two words to create a style "theme" - I find it helps me narrow down choices when it comes to home decor and clothing. I am still trying to create a more cohesive wardrobe, and I decided my ideal look is "feminine organic." This is kind of what I have in mind; outfits that are soft, simple, sort of old-fashioned, and really pretty . . .

MAYBE if I can put together enough "feminine organic" outfits, I will get spotted on the street when I'm in Portland in April - I just booked a flight there to visit a friend! But "feminine organic" sounds like a tampon so I'll have to come up with another name for it.
